  • How long have you worked at Tennis Wales?    18 months
  • What is your background?  Junior tennis player, pro tennis player and level 5 performance coach.  I’ve played at county, national and international level as a junior and senior and coached at all of those levels within junior tennis since retiring in 2005.  I’ve worked for both the men’s and women’s teams at the LTA within different capacities since I began coaching and have individually coached a number of Welsh players in Cardiff.
  • What are your career highlights?   As a player, it would have to be representing Wales at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, reaching the final round of the Wimbledon qualifying in 2003 and playing in Junior Wimbledon in 2000.  As a coach, it would be being the lead coach of two junior players who have reached Junior Grand Slams, working as travelling coach to Johanna Konta in 2011/12 and captaining GB, Wales and South Wales to many memorable Summer Cup, Home Nations and County Cup wins.
  • What do you like most about working at Tennis Wales?  Tennis has been my life from a very young age and I am passionate about helping Welsh tennis to grow and the players we have to excel.  Joining the Tennis Wales team will allow me to have a greater influence on that which I am excited about.
  • Any unknown facts?    I’m a keen golfer, when the weather is good, and have a highest break of 63 in snooker (that was 10 reds and 9 colours for anyone who is interested!).  I was so nervous in my Junior Wimbledon 1st round that I fed a ball into the crowd during my opponent’s smashing warm up!
  • Any big regrets?    Feeding a ball into the crowd at Wimbledon and missing what was a pretty routine black for a 70 break in snooker.
