British Tennis Membership Terms and Conditions

British Tennis Membership is the LTA Registered Membership Scheme provided for in LTA Rule 43 and these Terms & Conditions apply to your purchase of/application for British Tennis Membership from the Lawn Tennis Association Limited (“LTA”) whose address is 100 Priory Lane, Roehampton, London SW15 5JQ.

References to “we”, “us” and “our” should be construed as references to LTA.

1. Introduction

By applying for British Tennis Membership you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. The Terms and Conditions do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. British Tennis Membership

2.1 British Tennis Membership was launched on 1 March 2008.

2.2 There are three categories of British Tennis Members:

2.2.1 British Tennis Lite Member;

2.2.2 British Tennis Team Member; and

2.2.3 Child Member

2.3 Within British Tennis Lite and British Tennis Team categories of membership there are two different classes of membership. Currently these are Adult Membership (for those aged 18 and above on the date on which their application is processed), and Junior Membership (for those aged between 11 and 17 years on the date on which their application is processed). Child Membership is for those aged 4 to 10 years on the date on which their application is processed.

2.4 If you become a British Tennis Member in any category you will be eligible to receive certain membership benefits. The price and duration of the relevant benefits are subject to change over time at the sole and absolute discretion of the LTA (and in accordance with paragraph 2.10 below), but their duration will ordinarily run for 12 months from the date of purchase.

2.5 British Tennis Lite Member. These are individuals who are eligible for British Tennis Lite Membership by virtue of being a member of an LTA registered venue. In the case of LTA registered venues that are multisport clubs, only tennis members (which may include players, volunteers and tennis social members) of those registered venue are eligible to apply for British Tennis Lite Membership. In relation to tennis specific registered venues, social members of those registered venue are eligible to apply for British Tennis Lite Membership. In relation to registered venues which do not have a traditional membership structure, card holders and any adult or junior involved in an organised programme at a registered venue running a park-based tennis programme and/or an indoor pay and play tennis centre are also eligible to apply for British Tennis Lite Membership. If you are accepted by the LTA as a British Tennis Lite Member, you will receive the British Tennis Lite Membership Package (which includes entry into the LTA registered venue’s Wimbledon Ballot and a British Tennis Rating). There is no cost for this membership however you will no longer be eligible for British Tennis Lite Membership if you terminate your membership of the registered venue, or the registered venue terminates its registration to the LTA. In each case you must notify the LTA of such termination or inform the LTA of any change in your registered venue. Subject to your LTA registered venue renewing its registration with the LTA, your British Tennis Lite Membership will renew automatically.

2.6 British Tennis Team Member. These are individuals who pay the annual membership fee for the British Tennis Team Member package and are accepted by the LTA as a British Tennis Team Member. When you become a British Tennis Team Member your British Tennis Membership will renew automatically each year. This means that the LTA will automatically take payment on your renewal date (which is the date set out in your member area) at the rate set out on the LTA website on your renewal date. You can find out your renewal date or cancel the automatic renewal at any time within your member area or by contacting the LTA at info@lta.org.uk or 02084877000. You can also cancel automatic renewal in the ‘Manage Payment’ section of your ‘Member Area,’If you have cancelled automatic renewal your m can be renewed at any time during the 30 days prior to the expiry of the membership. If the LTA does not receive your membership fee in relation to the renewal in this period, your membership will cease. Any British Tennis Lite Member may upgrade to British Tennis Team Membership by paying the annual membership fee for the British Tennis Team Member Package. Your British Team Tennis Membership will commence on the day that your membership is accepted by the LTA.

2.7 Membership does not entitle you to attend or vote at LTA General Meetings and does not affiliate you to the LTA.

2.8 Membership is non-transferable and any membership card or identification may only be used by you.

2.9 Persons under 18 years of age at the date of application are only eligible for Junior or Child Membership categories (as appropriate) and must have parental/guardian consent on the application form.

2.10 Any benefits and services that may be made available to you by the LTA are at the sole and absolute discretion of the LTA and are subject to withdrawal at any time without notice to you. The LTA shall decide which benefits and services fall within the relevant categories of membership from time to time.

2.11 The LTA reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion and without assigning a reason, to refuse any application or renewal and to suspend, restrict or cancel the membership of any person. The LTA is not obliged to provide reasons for any action taken under this clause 2.11. However, potential reasons include, but are not limited to, an individual being in breach of these conditions or any further regulations and conditions from time to time prescribed by the LTA, a decision of a relevant (judged by the LTA) body or committee (for example, one of the LTA’s committees) or in the reasonable opinion of the LTA an individual being guilty of conduct which is detrimental to the reputation of the LTA or is detrimental to the interests of the game of tennis or is otherwise offensive or dishonest in dealings with the LTA.

2.12 If payment is required and you are paying by debit or credit card we must receive full details of your debit/credit card with your application. On receipt of your application we will debit your debit/credit card for the price. However, our acceptance of your application remains subject to our approval. Once we have reached a decision on your application we will either confirm that your application has been accepted by us or notify you that we cannot accept your application. We will contact you by either sending an email or a letter to you at the email or postal address you provide in your application form. If we cannot accept your application and we have taken payment, we will confirm that your debit/credit card has been re-credited.

2.13 Our acceptance of your application brings into existence a legally binding contract between us, subject to you verifying your email address using the link sent to you by the LTA.

2.14 As we are a UK organisation, all charges advertised (unless otherwise indicated) are in Pounds Sterling. If you are purchasing from overseas, your card issuer will convert the charge into your local currency. This application form and our Terms and Conditions have been designed for use within the United Kingdom. Whilst we will consider requests for services from outside the United Kingdom, we give no warranty, expressed or implied, that our application form or the making of any application from outside the UK, complies with any applicable non-UK laws or regulations. Accordingly, any products or promotions not permitted under your local law are not offered to you. Furthermore, we reserve the right to refuse any application at our discretion from overseas customers and we will have no obligation to provide you with any reasons for refusing an order.

3. British Tennis Wimbledon Ticket Ballots

3.1 All Adult and Junior British Tennis Members are eligible for entry into a British Tennis Wimbledon Ticket Ballot. Child Members are not eligible for inclusion in any ballot for tickets run by the LTA for The Championships, Wimbledon including through any LTA registered venue BTM Ballot and the Central BTM Wimbledon Ballot.

3.2 If you are an Adult or Junior member of an LTA registered venue(s) and a British Tennis Lite or British Tennis Team Member, you are eligible to be entered into the ballots of the LTA registered venue(s) to which your membership is affiliated. If you are an Adult or Junior British Tennis Team Member and are not also a member of an LTA registered venue you will be entered into the Central British Tennis Wimbledon Ballot. It is not possible to be entered into both registered venue BTM Ballot and the Central British Tennis Wimbledon Ballot. The LTA will consider requests to be entered into the Central British Tennis Wimbledon Ballot instead of a member’s LTA registered venue British Tennis Ballot. The ballots will be run in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions for such ballot (please see the LTA Ticket Ballot Conditions at www.lta.org.uk). If you do not wish to be entered in the relevant ballot you must notify your LTA registered venue or the LTA (as appropriate).

3.3 Any Wimbledon tickets issued to British Tennis Members through any British Tennis Wimbledon Ticket Ballot or through any other means are subject to the terms and conditions imposed by the Committee of Management of The Championships, Wimbledon, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club Limited and the LTA.

4. Other Ticket Ballots

The LTA may, from time to time and when tickets for events become available, run ballots for the allocation of tickets which may be subject to additional entry criteria.  British Tennis Team Members may be eligible for inclusion in such ballots subject to the relevant additional entry criteria.

5. Prices and Delivery Charges

5.1 The prices payable for the British Tennis Membership provided to you are the prices set out on our website on the date of your application.

5.2 Our prices are inclusive of VAT and postage to addresses in Great Britain, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. Applicants from other areas will receive all communications electronically. The LTA will not cover the cost of postage to applicants from other areas.

5.3 Any overpayment of membership fees may not be reclaimed after six months have elapsed from the date of the overpayment.

6. Termination

6.1 You agree that on our acceptance of your application you will immediately become a British Tennis Member and will be entitled to all the benefits of membership (relevant to the packages you have applied for and subject to any restrictions which the LTA place) such that the membership service provided to you will begin at that time. In accordance with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel the contract between you and the LTA at any time during the 14 days starting on the day on which the contract was entered into (i.e. on the day that your application is accepted by the LTA) and ending 14 days after the day on which the contract was entered into (the “Cancellation Period”). If you wish to cancel the contract during the Cancellation Period you must make a clear statement that you intend to cancel the contract by informing the LTA either by sending an email to info@lta.org.uk or a letter to ‘British Tennis  Membership, British Tennis Services Team, The National Tennis Centre, 100 Priory Lane, London SW15 5JQ’ before the expiry of the Cancellation Period. 6.2 If you cancel the contract during the Cancellation Period in accordance with paragraph 6.2 above you will be reimbursed all payments received from you in respect of your application for British Tennis Membership. The LTA will make the reimbursement without undue delay and no later than 14 days after the day on which you informed us about your decision to cancel the contract. The LTA will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise and you will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement. If you request supply of any services or benefits available to you in respect of the contract during the Cancellation Period the LTA may deduct from the reimbursement an amount in respect of the services performed during the Cancellation Period.

6.3 If you cancel the contract after the Cancellation Date you will not be entitled to receive a refund from the LTA.

7. Warranties and Liability

Whilst every effort is made to ensure that the benefits and services provided by third parties (e.g. discounts) will be delivered and be of a suitable standard, the LTA is in no way responsible for such benefits and services, which will remain the sole responsibility of such third parties. The LTA makes no representation, warranty, recommendation or endorsement of the goods and services provided by such third parties and you accept that none is given or implied.

8. Changes to these Terms and Amendments to Content

British Tennis Membership is subject to such further regulations and conditions as may from time to time be prescribed by the LTA and published on our website (at www.lta.org.uk).

10. Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679

The LTA confirms that it will process your personal data in accordance with the LTA Privacy Policy, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (all as amended and superseded at any time).

11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions and any related non-contractual obligations shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of England and Wales and the parties irrevocably agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any disputes that may arise out of, under, or in connection with these terms or the legal relationship established by them, and for those purposes irrevocably submit all disputes to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. 

12. Entire Agreement

These Terms and Conditions, together with your application form, our current prices and contact details, set out the whole of our agreement relating to the supply of membership to you by us. Nothing said by any LTA or registered venue representative on our behalf should be understood as a variation of these Terms and Conditions or as an authorised representation about the nature or quality of any goods/services offered by us. Except for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, we shall have no liability for any such representation being untrue or misleading.
