Katie Swan battled back from 5-1 down in the third set to come through a marathon match with Micheala Gordon at the French Open.

Swan, a finalist at the Australian Open Juniors in January, looked to be heading out of the competition when match point down against her American opponent.

But the No.8 seed and April Aegon Junior Player of the Month fought back incredibly to overcome Gordon 4-6, 6-4, 8-6 in two hours and 50 minutes and set up a meeting with Katherine Sebov.

Fellow Brit Maia Lumsden was out battling on the clay courts at the same time as Swan but went down 6-2, 6-1 to No.14 seed Anna Blinkova.

Earlier in the day, at a wet and windy Roland Garros, Jamie Murray and John Peers suffered a 6-3, 7-5 defeat to Marcin Matkowski and Nenad Zimonjic.

Played at times in pretty heavy rain, Murray and Peers lost the decisive break at 5-5 in the second set and the experienced No.7 seeds served out the match to progress to the next round.

Murray will now turn his attention to the grass court season after being knocked out of the mixed doubles on Saturday with Elina Svitolina.
