Kyle Edmund and Johanna Konta are one win away from the French Open main draw after recording impressive wins in Paris.

Edmund ruthlessly dispatched experienced campaigner Victor Hanescu 6-1, 6-2 in little over an hour to set up a Round 3 clash with Adrian Menendez-Maceiras.

The British No.4, who also qualified for the Australian Open in January, was in fantastic form throughout against the former quarter-finalist from Romania after breaking serve early in both sets.

Meanwhile, Konta looked to be in trouble early on against Russian No.7 seed Elizaveta Kulichkova when she fell 3-0 down but fought back to take the first set on a tie-break 7-1.

In the second, Konta got the crucial break for a 4-2 lead and served the match out for a 7-6(1), 6-3 victory against her higher ranked opponent.

Earlier in the day Brydan Klein was up against Facundo Arguello but found the Argentine a tough nut to crack and suffered a 6-3, 6-1 defeat.

After the match, @klein_brydan said: "It just wasn't meant to be. Too good by him! I'm looking forward to the grass season tho. #BackTheBrits"

Naomi Broady was the final Brit in action at Roland Garros but could not repeat her form from Wednesday and went down 6-1, 6-1 to Australian Anastasia Rodionova.
