Jamie Murray & John Peers v Steve Johnson & Sam Querrey

Two Grand Slam finals in a row for Jamie Murray! The British No.1’s golden run at the US Open continues after he defeated Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson 6-4, 6-7(2), 7-6(7) in a dramatic semi-final.

Wimbledon finalists Murray and long term Australian partner John Peers overcome an incredibly tough battle with the powerful American duo in which they saved a match point in the third set tie-break.

Murray, the first Brit in the US Open men’s doubles final since 1972, will take on French duo Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in Saturday’s final.

Jamie MurrayOne early break of serve was enough to take the opener against the team that knocked out the World No.1 pairing of the Bryan brothers earlier in the competition.

The British and Australian duo started the second in fine form as well, holding all their six service games for the loss of just one point.

It would go to a tense decider though as Querrey and Johnson got back on level terms by playing a solid breaker.

The third set was full of twists and turns on the Louis Armstrong court after Peers lost his serve when serving for the match when 5-3 up.

Again, a tie-break would have to settle things and despite falling 5-2 behind and saving a match point with some staggering Murray volleys at 5-6, the No.8 seeds rose to the challenge to reach their first US Open final.

Murray said: "My nerves are shot but we're so happy to win and get to the final. We played a very high level match and the other guys were serving really well but we managed to turn it around."

Stat attack:

Jamie Murray is the first British player in history to reach back-to-back Grand Slam men's doubles finals.

Dom Inglot & Robert Lindstedt v Nicolas Mahut & Pierre-Hugues Herbert

Dom Inglot will have to wait to contest his first Grand Slam final after his excellent US Open run was ended by Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the semi-final.

Dom InglotBritish No.2, Inglot, has enjoyed a great run in New York with Swede Robert Lindstedt but their eight match unbeaten run came to a close 7-5, 6-2 to the talented French duo.

Inglot and Lindstedt broke serve for an early 2-0 advantage but were pegged back to 2-2 on the Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Despite coming through a marathon game with five deuces to hold for 4-4, they couldn’t manage to take the opener into a tie-break as the Australian Open finalists broke in the final game.

Mahut is an experienced campaigner on the doubles circuit and the No.12 seeds and 2015 Aegon Championships winners broke early on in the second to secure their place in the final.
