Jamie Murray will contest his second successive Grand Slam semi-final on Thursday after knocking the No.4 seeds out of the US Open in a thrilling match in New York.

Wimbledon finalists Murray and Australian John Peers fought back to overcome Marcin Matkowski and Nenad Zimonjic 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) to secure their place in the last four.

Jamie MurrayThe result ensures in 2015 Murray has bettered or equalled his best ever result in the men’s doubles at all four Grand Slams.

One break of serve was all it took to split the opening two sets before the decider went all the way to a tie-break which was dominated by the No.8 seeds.

Murray and Peers will now face Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey or Leonardo Mayer and Joao Sousa for a place in the final showdown.

The British No.1 said: “The guys that are left in are all top teams, so I don't really think the seedings play that much of a part.

"We got to the final of Wimbledon and it was a great run for us. I guess you get that hunger to do it again, and a couple of months later we've got the chance to get back to the final."

Dom Inglot, who was also named in the Aegon GB Davis Cup Team, will look to join Murray today when he and Robert Lindstedt take on Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea in their quarter-final.
