Jamie Murray suffered disappointment in his Wimbledon men’s doubles final as an impressive display from Horia Tecau and Jean-Julien Rojer landed them the title.

The Dutch and Romanian combination were mightily solid on serve throughout and sealed their first Grand Slam win together with a 7-6(5), 6-4, 6-4 victory.

Jamie MurrayMurray and Peers started strongly and put pressure on their opponents from the off. Three break points came and went in the opening stages though before they themselves had to save a set point when trailing 5-4.

In a tense tie-break the pair who won eight titles from nine finals together in 2014 held their nerve to seal the set with a smash after a stunning rally.

Now a full house on Centre Court with Andy Murray in attendance, Tecau and Rojer broke the Peers serve for 2-1 in the second and never looked like relinquishing the lead.

British No.1 Murray and the Australian Peers struggled to find any chances to get back into the match and saw it slip away when Peers was broken at 4-4 in the third.

Tecau had lost in the final three years in a row between 2010-12 but finally got his hands on the trophy when Rojer served it out to love.

Jamie MurrayFor Murray and Peers though, who have been together three years, it was a hugely positive tournament in which they knocked out the defending champions and reached their first Grand Slam final.

Murray said: "It was a good tournament for us. We got to the final of Wimbledon, which is not so easy to do. It’s my best result in a Grand Slam by quite some distance.

“We came to win and we may never have a chance to play a Grand Slam final again. I guess we want to win one. That's our goal but it's not easy to get to the final of these tournaments.

“I'm sure this will give us confidence going ahead in the summer. We know when we're playing well we can beat a lot of the top teams.”

Juniors

A topsy-turvy doubles semi-final went in the favour of Vera Lapko and Tereza Mihalikova as British duo Anna Brogan and Freya Christie got a taster of the No.1 Court.

Brogan and Christie, who knocked out the No.2 seeds along the way, started strongly and found themselves 2-0 up but got broken twice in the latter stages of the opener to drop the set 6-4.

They both lost their serves at the start of the second to trail 3-0 before fighting back fantastically to level the score at 5-5. It wasn’t to be though as they dropped the final two games to go down 6-4, 7-5.

Wheelchair doubles

Gordon Reid fought back from the brink to seal a final spot in the men's doubles. Along with Michael Jeremiasz, Reid sealed an epic 7-6(9), 3-6, 7-6(4) win over Joachim Gerard and compatriot Alfie Hewett. Read all about it!
