It was a mixed day for the Brits at Wimbledon as Johanna Konta's campaign came to en end, whilst Andy Murray and Serena Williams' partnership continued to delight fans.
Konta's brilliant run brought to an end
Just one day after her battling final-16 victory over two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, Johanna Konta returned to SW19 for a shot at reaching the semi-finals for the second time in her career.
The British No.1 faced world No.54 Barbora Strycova on Centre Court and started strong by taking an early break, but the inspired Czech found her form to break back and took the opening set in a tie-break. With momentum on her side, she went on to secure a 7-6(5), 6-1 victory, bringing 19th seed Konta's impressive run to an end.
Murena magic
Andy Murray and Serena Williams were next up on Centre Court and clinched a final-16 berth with a 7-5, 6-3 win over 14th seeds Raquel Atawo and Fabrice Martin. They will play top seeds Nicole Melichar and Bruno Soares on Wednesday for a place in the quarter-finals.
Hoyt and Silva stage impressive comeback to reach quarter-finals
Evan Hoyt and Eden Silva continued their impressive mixed doubles run by overcoming Joran Vliegen and Saisai Zheng 5-7, 7-6(5), 6-4.
The pair will face either Artem Sitak and Laura Siegemund or Mate Pavic and Gabriela Dabrowski in the quarter-finals.
Third seeds Pavic and Dabrowski defeated Jamie Murray and Bethanie Mattek-Sands after their match was suspended at 6-4, 4-6, 4-3 in their favour. The pair started strong when play resumed and took the next two games to win the decider 6-3.
Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram resumed their men's final-16 clash which was also suspended due to bad light on Tuesday night. After losing the first two sets against eighth seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers, the 12th seeds battled back to force a decider before time was called at 5-5. The epic continued on Tuesday but Salisbury and Ram were denied a place in the quarter-finals, eventually falling 7-6(2), 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 13-12(2) in a match that lasted four hours and 29 minutes over two days.
Despite the tight loss, the pair still made history by contesting in the first ever fifth set 12-12 tie-break at Wimbledon after the new rule was introduced this year.
Fery, Matusevish and Mutavdzic advance to third round
There were victories for Arthur Fery, Anton Matusvich and Matilda Mutavdzic who all advanced to the third round of the boys' and girls' singles.
Fery and Toby Samuel, and Jacob Fearnley and Connor Thomson also scored wins in the opening round of the boys' doubles. Check out the full results here.
