Andy Murray and Serena Williams' mesmerising mixed doubles campaign was brought to an end as they suffered a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 loss to top seeds Nicole Melichar and Bruno Soares, narrowly missing out on a place in the quarter-finals.

Nevertheless, the pair were all smiles leaving No.2 Court to a standing ovation to fittingly conclude Murray's grass court season. Since returning to competitive action after surgery, the three-time Grand Slam singles champion has delighted fans by capturing the Fever-Tree Championships title alongside Feliciano Lopez, before returning to SW19 where he has shown plenty of signs of Murray Magic - both with Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the men's doubles or Serena in the mixed.

Meanwhile, Anton Matusevich booked his place in the quarter-finals as he defeated top seed Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune 6-4, 7-5. The 18-year-old will face eighth seed Shintaro Mochizuki for a spot in the semis.

Holly Fischer and Matilda Mutavdzic were last up and proved triumphant in the opening round of the girls' doubles by scoring a 7-6(5), 6-4 win over Daria Fraymen and Darja Semenistaja.
