2019 LTA Awards Seniors Tennis

Frances MacLennan and Seb Jackson were awarded the first ever LTA Seniors Tennis Player of the Year awards, presented at the National Awards ceremony which took place at The Championships, Wimbledon.

The awards were presented by former Grand Slam winner Christine Truman Janes and GB Davis Cup Captain Leon Smith.

Frances MacLennan followed her earlier successes as a young player at Wimbledon by being a massive contributor to seniors tennis, reaching a career high world age group ranking of No.2, captaining GB to many medals in World Championships and being a regular winner of international titles.

Frances started 2018 off by winning the British Open Seniors' Indoor 75+ titles in singles and doubles at Tipton. She had more success at the British Open Seniors' Clay Court Championships in Bournemouth where she once again won the singles and doubles titles. Later in the year she led the GB Women's 75 + Team to a gold medal in the ITF World Super Seniors Team Championships, winning four out of five singles along the way.

Seb Jackson has always been an exceptional ambassador for Team GB, having represented his country for many years and having reached a career high world age group ranking of No.2.

At the start of 2018 Seb got off to a superb start winning the singles and doubles 45s titles at the British Open Seniors' Indoor Championships at Tipton. However shortly after, he was diagnosed with cancer. He underwent chemotherapy treatment and then radiotherapy. He battled back to a full recovery and, in a relatively short period of time, managed to regain his fitness. In October he led the GB Men's 45+ team to a very creditable 4th place in the ITF Seniors World Team Championship.
