You must hold a valid certificate of competence in either First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), or will have successfully completed the OFQUAL Level 3 in First Aid.
In order to maintain a national standard and to comply with the insurance regulations, the First Aid Course must be either an Emergency First Aid at Work course, a First Aid at Work course or an OFQUAL Level 3 course. Whilst we understand and recognise that other course content is similar, as the National Governing Body with an Accreditation Scheme, we have to enforce a consistent approach.

If you have completed a first aid course and it is not showing on your accreditation requirement section, then we need to see your certificate. You can send a copy to your regional office, or take your certificate there. You could also enclose a copy of your first aid certificate with your DBS application form.
The certificate must clearly follow industry guidance:
- Name of training organisation.
- Name of qualification.
- Name of individual.
- A Validity period for three years from date of course completion.
- An indication that the certificate has been issued for the purposes of complying with the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
- A statement that teaching was delivered in accordance with currently accepted first-aid practice.

You can find emergency first aid at work courses via the find a course search facility.
If you book onto a course via the LTA website, the provider will send us confirmation of those who completed and passed the first aid training and we will confirm this on your account. Alternatively, you can find courses via the Red Cross or St John Ambulance websites.
