Mini Tennis is a programme to help coaches attract and retain young children aged 3-10 years who are just starting the sport.
Mini Tennis uses smaller courts and equipment, combined with lower-bouncing balls to produce a platform for young children to learn the game and develop a love for the sport.
Mini Tennis is split into four stages outlined below:
- Tots: 3-5 years - Learn the basics
- Red: 5-8 years - Serve, rally and score
- Orange: 8-9 years - Develop a rounded game
- Green: 10 years - Put your skills to the test

Mini Tennis competition
Coaches should encourage their players to take part in Mini Red, Orange and Green competitions as they are a fun and enjoyable way to introduce competitive play. It's also a great opportunity for young children to put into practice their tennis skills as well as demonstrate fair play against other players of a similar standard.
