Becoming a tennis Competition Organiser

Competition Organisers run and organise competition at a local and recreational level, both formal and informal, and can organise larger competitions and deliver these working with a Referee. 

How do I become a Competition Organiser?

Attend a three hour Competition Organiser course which is delivered off-court.

The course is the starting point for people who want to run and organise local and recreational competition including Grade 6, Grade 7 and ungraded events.

The aim of Competition Organiser Course is to provide attendees with the knowledge and skills to run enjoyable competitions.

Pre-requisites

Attendees must be aged 16 or over to attend the course. No previous experience is required.

Course Structure

 The course covers the following areas:

  • Competition framework, ratings and rankings
  • Running a competition from start to finish from competition creation to submitting results
  • Formal and informal competition formats including those for recreational competition
  • How to create an enjoyable competition experience.

Course Assessment

The course is not assessed. Any individuals attending who have LTA coach or official accreditation will receive 3 credits for attending.

Next steps

Attendees receive resources which will assist them in running competitions.

Attendees can go on to complete the two day Referee course if they want to progress to referee tournaments.
