A Court Supervisor is an off court Official who supports the Referee with the running of larger tournaments. A Court Supervisor will be assigned a number of courts to watch and will help to ensure that play runs smoothly on these courts by handling any on court disputes as they arise and managing player behaviour using the code of conduct as necessary.
How do I become a Court Supervisor?
To become a Court Supervisor you must attend a three hour Court Supervisor course.
Pre-requisites
- Attendees must be a minimum of 16 on the first day of the course
- Pre-course reading will need to be completed – this will be sent in advance of the start of the course.
- No previous experience is required. However qualified Umpires and Referees can also attend the course.
Course structure
The course covers the following areas:
- Rules of Tennis
- Code of Conduct
- Fair Play
- Mini Tennis
- Handling Disputes and Procedures.
Course assessment
The course will conclude with a short exam to ensure that the key learnings have been understood. However the course is not pass/fail depending on the result of the exam.
Next steps
Attendees can become an LTA Licensed Official following the course and will be then eligible to apply for selections as a Court Supervisor at tournaments.
