Advertising for tennis volunteers

Let members at your club know you are looking for people to fulfil volunteer roles by advertising at your venue and through your member communications. You can promote in the wider community by advertising on local notice boards and through community networks and local media.

Use posters

Put posters up at your venue entrance and in the clubhouse – especially in high-footfall areas such as the bar and changing rooms. Consider printing A5 leaflets to hand out to parents at Mini Tennis coaching sessions and at open days. Also think beyond your venue – pin on community noticeboards, in Post Office windows, leisure centres, libraries, faith centres and local colleges.

Use social media

Promote the available volunteer roles on your website and on social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter. As a venue, ensure you follow local groups and community networks so you can widen your presence and reach more potential volunteers. For more details on safe and inclusive recruitment, see What’s the Score.

Sell the benefits!

Promote that volunteers have their say in how the venue is run, enjoy working as part of a team and giving something back to tennis for the benefit of all members as well as gaining valuable employability skills and experience. Be realistic about the activities required for the role and the amount of time commitment.

Follow-up

Make sure you follow-up all enquiries in a timely manner and try to match the member to a relevant role by finding out about their skills and time available.
