The LTA is committed to ensuring British tennis remains open, accepting and accessible to all sections of society. To achieve this commitment the LTA considers and champions Equality, Diversity and Inclusion issues throughout all aspects of the organisation by welcoming diversity, accepting difference and challenging all forms of discrimination and unjust behaviour.
We have maintained the Intermediate Level of UK Sport's Equality Standard and will continue to progress our efforts to widen access and reduce inequalities in tennis. Some of the areas we are focusing on are Women and Girls in tennis, greater accessibility of venues; inclusive recruitment and women in leadership.
In May 2017, the LTA adopted in full the requirements of the Code for Sports Governance, including the target of a minimum of 30% of each gender on the LTA Board, and is proud to make a public commitment to progress towards gender parity and greater diversity on our Board, Council, amongst our employees and more broadly across our sport. As part of our Equality Standards and Code for Sports Governance commitments please read the LTA Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan.
We are also very proud to be a founding signatory to the government's “Charter” to end homophobia and transphobia in sport. This “Charter” commits the LTA and other sporting bodies to actively challenge any and all forms of homophobic or transphobic abuse or discrimination. You can personally support the “Charter” on the groups Facebook page.
We will continue to put effort and resources into creating equality in tennis to ensure the principles of “Fair Play” are upheld and the sport continues to grow and diversify.
