British duo Kyle Edmund and Johanna Konta will both be playing in their first ever French Open main draws after storming through qualifying.

Edmund made light work of world No.113 Adrian Menendez-Maceiras while Konta breezed past French player Clothilde De Bernardi for the loss of just three games.

British No.4, Edmund, has now successfully qualified for the last two Grand Slams having made Round 1 at the Australian Open in January.

The Yorkshireman, 20, was in a hurry at Roland Garros and quickly found himself 6-1, 5-1 up against his Spanish opponent.

Menendez-Maceiras briefly threatened a comeback but 2013 French Open Junior Doubles champion, Edmund, served out the second set 6-4 to join Andy Murray and Aljaz Bedene in Round 1.

He will face world No.550 Stephane Robert from France for a place in Round 2.

Konta, beaten at the same stage last year, will line up alongside Heather Watson in the main draw after her quick-fire victory.

The British No.2 again got off to a fast start by racing into a 4-0 lead and never looked back to take the first set 6-2. A break in the opening game of the second sent her on her way to game, set and match with a 6-2, 6-1 score-line.

Konta, who last qualified for a Grand Slam at the US Open in 2012, faces world No. 86 Denisa Allertova from the Czech Republic in Round 1.
