This year at the Nature Valley Open in Nottingham, there will be free activities for the whole family to get involved in!
Check out below to find out what's in store for the WTA and ATP events outside of the grass court action.
Family Fun Weekend: Saturday 8 - Sunday 9 June
The Nature Valley Open’s popular superhero Family Fun Weekend is back again for 2019! You can kick off the morning with plenty of outdoor activities including Trent Bridge’s Cricket Roadshow, wheelchair tennis, adventure golf, get involved on England Netball’s pop up court and of course, give tennis a go for free! Both adults and kids can enjoy our inflatables zone and Speed of Serve activity but keep your eyes peeled for Catboy, Gekko and Owlette as PJ Masks will be making personal appearances at intervals throughout the day. Take advantage of Del Monte’s and Quorn’s giveaways as they join in the fun by sampling on-site and if that’s not enough, enjoy an action-packed weekend of tennis as players qualify for the main draw. Gates open at 10am with adult tickets only £6 and kids get in for free!
Charity Day: Monday 10 June
For the fourth year in succession, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People are the tournament’s Official Charity Partner. The event will be donating 50% of all ticket revenue to the charity with spectators able to grab a ticket for Centre Court for as little as £11. Rainbows, the East Midlands’ only hospice for life-limited children and young people, have an incredible team of people who help relieve symptoms, improve quality of life, support parents and siblings through their bereavements and care for children until the end. Spectators can donate to the charity throughout the week and take part in their raffles and competitions.
Ladies Day: Wednesday 12 June
Dress to impress as Ladies Day presented by House of Fraser returns again to the Nature Valley Open. Come and see an action packed day of tennis while being able to enjoy retail pop-ups offering all your summer essentials, ‘fashion on the court’ featuring House of Fraser favourites as well as being in with a chance to win some fantastic prizes!
Schools Tennis Festival: Monday 10 - Friday 14 June
The Nature Valley Open will welcome 1,800 school children between Monday - Friday 14 as they take part in another fully subscribed Schools Tennis Festival! Children, regardless of ability, get the chance to take part in a variety of activities while at the same time getting to watch world-class tennis.
Explore Wimbledon
This year Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum is bringing a touch of patience to the grass court season. The temporary exhibition “A Long Standing Tradition” celebrates the story of The Queue and the fans who formed it.
Showcasing fabulous images from 1913 to the present day, highlighting the meandering journey the players make through the grass court season and inviting you to stand in line behind some Wimbledon Champions for an Instagram competition, this exhibition invites us all to patiently take our place and wait for the tennis. A free 12 page booklet complete with children’s activities is available to all who visit.
You call it queueing, Wimbledon calls it The Queue. It may take hours, it may rain, and entry cannot be guaranteed, but people still love The Queue.
